7 Day Home Deep Cleaning Plan for Christmas

Prepping your home for Christmas holidays or for unexpected overnight guests can be hectic. To get rid of last-minute cleaning clutter divide your house cleaning tasks into segments. Follow our 7-Day deep cleaning plan and prepare your home before Christmas arrives.

Cleaning Plan Day 1

  • Go through your home like a guest, take notes of things around that your guests may notice, for example, houseplants with dead leaves.
  • Turn do-it-yourself into a do-it-ourselves; get the help of family members, make a checklist, and assign chores accordingly. Remember: the more the merrier

Cleaning Plan Day 2

  • Cleaning all windows and vacuum window screens.
  • Wipedown the baseboard with a damp microfiber cloth.
  • Wash curtains and if possible steam clean it
  • Wash and iron bedspreads if needed.

Cleaning Plan Day 3

  • Do a deep cleaning of cabinets and bathrooms.
  • Tidy the bedroom by removing clutter. Donate or store out of sight.
  • Clean the closet making room for guest’s clothes

Cleaning Plan Day 4

  • Clean carpets and rugs
  • Do laundry

Cleaning Plan: Day 5

  • Wipeout gas range, stovetop, surfaces, and grates.
  • Dust the top of the refrigerator, clean the inside of the fridge, toss items that are past their prime.
  • Wipe down all large and small appliances in the kitchen.
  • Clean all the cabinets of the Kitchen.
  • Do dishes, clean the sink and dishwasher.
  • Take trash to trash bins or facilities.

Cleaning Plan: Day 6

  • Clean all the touch-points such as light switches, doorknobs, sweep entryway, and decorate the entrance with seasonal touches.
  • Dust furniture, bookshelves, photo frames, and other surfaces. Don't forget to dust and clean the ceiling lights.

Cleaning Plan: Day 7

Here are a few more touch-ups and then it’s time to party!

  • Clean any grimy areas in the bathroom using cleaner and paper towels.
  • Wipe down mirrors and counters. Damp the floors with a towel.
  • Hang fresh towels and put out fresh toiletries in the bathroom.
  • Damp-mop the kitchen floor.
  • Vacuum and mop all the floors of every room.
  • Change sofa cushion and pillow covers, change linen.
  • Decorate the living area with flower arrangements or candles.
